The international auction Old Masters, Nineteenth Century & Early Modern Art last week was very successful.
Much attention was given to an ice scene by Anthonie Verstraelen (1594-1641), lot 21, which changed hands for a hammer price of €135,000.
Other top prices included an oil painting by Ferdinand Hart Nibbrig (1866-1915), Farm in Laren, lot 98, with a hammer price of €70,000. A stunning winter forest by Louis Apol (1850-1936), lot 153, achieved a hammer price of €60,000.
More exclusive winter landscapes were also offered. For example, Barend Avercamp (1612-1679), lot 10, with a winter scene featuring colf players on the ice, fetched a hammer price of €50,000. Works by Robert van den Hoecke (Flemish, 1622-1668), lot 26, and Barend Cornelis Koekkoek (1803-1862), lot 30, were sold for hammer prices of €19,000 and €35,000 respectively.
The three portraits of ladies by Isaac Israëls (1865-1934) in the auction, lots 66, 75, and 76, attracted a great deal of interest and were successfully sold with results ranging between €38,000 and €55,000.
We extend our gratitude to our consignors and buyers for contributing to the success of this auction.
