Our auction week has come to an end, and we are thrilled with its results. We look back at a successful series of live hammer auctions and online auctions, which featured more than 1.500 lots, including books and prints, jewellery, silver, Asian Art, Asian and European ceramics and porcelain, antique and design furniture, European glassware, sculptures, and decorative art. With more than 7.500 bids, we reached over 2 million euros in sales!
The highlight of our Summer Auctions is a Chinese scroll offered in the Arts of the East: Asian Ceramics & Works of Art online auction: this big 17th-century scroll depicting a mountainous landscape fetched € 150.000. This auction also featured an outstanding selection of porcelain, such as a pair of puce-enameled ‘Phoenix Medallion’ bowls which sold for € 46.000, two blue and white ‘sanduo’ bowls which fetched € 24.000 and a blue and white vase decorated with a dragon and tiger, which was hammered down for € 26.000.
Our Books & Prints auction included two atlases which were sold for wonderful prices: a composite atlas by Reinier and Josua Ottens - including a Leo Belgicus - found a new owner for € 42.000, and a two-part town book by Joan Blaeu was sold for € 15.000.
A nice selection of silver, jewellery and watches was on offer in our Exclusive Jewellery & Watches and Fine Silver online auction, with a set of six silver candlesticks from Amsterdam (€ 30.000) and a silver tankard with coins (€ 13.000) as our best results. In our jewellery category, an 18k gold bracelet from Georges Lenfant and a rare jewelled chatelaine were sold for € 11.000 and € 10.000, respectively.
We ended the auction week with our Home & Interiors: Antique Furniture & Design, Ceramics & Decorative Art auctions, which included a pair of Delft pottery ‘snoeck terrines’ which was sold for € 85.000, a marble statue of a male torso which fetched € 20.000, and a marble statue of a girl by Henri Tréhard which was sold for € 19.000.
